Lancia D24 e le Lancia Sport.

The adventure of the Lancia team in the 1950s was a unique one, the adventure of technically superior cars, born in a very short time, and able to beat powerful, illustrious teams with a lot more experience in competition.

We are talking about the Lancia Sport D20, D23, D25and above all the D24, to which this volume dedicates much space and a portfolio of beautiful colour images.

The D24 was the most innovative and efficient sports car of its time. One of the most docile cars to drive in its category and extremely competitive both on road and circuit.

The most important victory of the Lancia D24is undoubtedly the one in Mexico at the Carrera Panamericana, held from 19 to 23 November 1953 with a 230 hp engine: Argentinean Juan Manuel Fangio and Piero Taruffi finished first and second respectively.

This was followed in 1954 by Alberto Ascari’s victory in the Mille Miglia and that of Taruffi in Targa Florio, while on 27 June Luigi Villoresi and Castellotti finished first and second in the Porto GP. D24 continues to win in 1954 also in the minor races in Italy.

The text is completed by beautiful colour and black and white pictures and two tables: one with the technical characteristics of all Lancia Sport cars, the other with serial numbers, chassis numbers and results in sporting competitions.
